Hi Peeps,

OK!!!.....Didn't bloody realise it would be soo difficult to obtain / fit mudguards to a Road Bike that has Disc Brakes, well CycloX to be exact..... I'm running a Cannondale CaadX 105 for winter / cummuting training fitted with 32mm tyres require guards to keep all elemnts of UK winter filth off my back.

What do folk recommend with tampering with fitting or is there very little one can do without bending / tweaking adjustments to make them fit???

Thanks!!!

Just had a quick look on the cannondale website and can't see mudguard fittings on the bike.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

A few years ago I fitted SKS Chromoplasics to a Hybrid with disc brakes. It was a bit of an effort to bend the support around the caliper but it worked fine.

Life is like riding a bicycle: you don't fall off unless you stop pedaling.

SKS Chromoplasics. bend the stays under the front caliper.
  • If you don't have mudguard screw points, then SKS Race Blades.

I have these on my Planet X XLS, and had the same problem.

They are not the greatest mudguards, but are a big step up from MTB guards.

If you have the screw points then Chromoplastic all the way!!

Get two rear SKS Race Blades, the front is too short.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

On the caadx there are nice neat eyes in the inside of the fork high out of the brake's way.
He will need a bit of patience at the rear - but once the stays are bent around the brake its fit and forget ime.
Have my SKS in place since this time last year and no more trouble
  • Any suggestions for a full mudguard that can fit a Giant TCX SLR2? Disk brakes, mounting points for mudguard/rack on the drop outs but no seat stay bridge.

32mm tyres sounds like SKS P45 mudguards to me.
I generally use cable ties rather than the official fittings.

Disc brakes shouldn't make any difference. I use P35 with 28mm tyres & dual pivot, or P55 with 37mm tyres and disc brakes.

P45 guards are what I've fitted to my Forme to cover the 32c knobbly tyres I'll use when needed but 99% of the time I'm running 28c 4Seasons.

Has anyone tried Specialized's Plug and Play Fender?

Aparently it fits the Tri Cross, I'm temped to try it on my Secteur Disc.
