I remember seeing posts with regards to Wyndy Milla bikes and realising they were not custom built in the UK. In fact at the time there were no custom frame builders of Carbon in the UK that I recall.

However, it appears that there are two out there:

The one man band:

The already established operation branching into Carbon - (boasting a 650g frame!)

Very few carbon frame manufacturers in the UK.

I know that a particular UK bike brand is due to launch a UK-made carbon road bike/frame in the coming months.

I think the price is set to be around £1500 frameset and they're going to be made in the Midlands.

Moda should be launching it at Cycle Show in Birmingham next month.

Is it a monocoque or tube to tube custom?

My Wyndy was made by Sarto. I'm incredibly happy about this.

It's OK for an Italian to make a carbon frame in a shed - that's the work of an artisan.

If an Englishman makes a carbon frame in a shed then he's a bodger!
    Faster than a tent.......
  • would that make me a bodger

I used to Build F1 cars (nose box monocoque tub wings barge board underfloor steering bulkhead) and also certain bits of fighter planes that dodge radar, bits of submarines

but if i make a bike in a shed (which i do its just 1000 sq ft) would this prior experience get me a dispensation from being a bodger,

Are the frames bespoke / fully made to measure an individual or are the frames "off the peg" set sizes.

If you build me a bike then no, you are an artisan, sir.

And so you should be  .

Closest two I can think of are the Condor Leggero being tube to tube hand built in Italy (not the UK I know but it is still 'artisan' built) and while I don't know where they put them together Comtat are selling themselves as this.

Got to say I wouldn't trust a 650g frame built by anyone less well known for quality carbon than Enve, Stork, Lightweight or AX Lightness. Even AX (who push the boundries in ways Enve seem unwilling to) struggle to get that low -
