Broken Nipples (sfw)

Just picked up a pair of Mavic Cosmic Elites off eBay and on the rear wheel there are 3 broken nipples (I was told of this in the auction, in fact the guy made out the wheel to be completely broken.) Looking at it, the wheel spins true and the spokes all seem tight. Do these nipples need to be replaced? Ignored? Other?

Any help would be beneficial

Oh, if you have any info on the wheels as a whole that would be of interest me too (year specifically).

Thought so - I will take them to the lbs and get them done. What would cause them to split in half like that?

It's fairly normal... nipples corrode and break... if they are aluminium they are probably all crumbling
