N+1, Is it a disease...?

When it's muddy, I ride my mountain bike.
When it's tarmac, I ride my Allez.
When it's tarmac + sunny, I ride my S-Works.
That ticks all the boxes. I don't do TTs or that cyclocross thing so I don't need another bike.
So why on earth did I buy another Specialized Allez last night. I don't need one, don't particularly want one and i've already got one... But I bought it.
Do I need help or do I need a cheaper hobby...?

No, you just need an imagination that extends beyond Specialized.......
Doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things as long as you can afford it but try something a bit different. There's so much choice out there and you aren't making any of it!Faster than a tent.......0 -
Stick a rack and panniers on it and - as if by magic - it's 'the tourer'.
Issue solved. Next.

Maybe just one more bike? One for when the weather doesn't know what it's going to do.

I'm like that with watches. Next is either a STEINHART "OCEAN vintage Military, or a vintage Rolex 6694.0

I get the desire to want extra bikes. I have a shit road bike sat on the turbo ready for winter. A nice road bike for dry days and a Mountain Bike. I want a cross bike and a single speed pub bike. I'd like a TT bike but don't really care either way. Might sell MTB and get a cross bike in time for the season.
What I don't understand is why you'd buy another version of the same bike you already own.0 -
maybe just change the name of you hobby from cycling to bike collecting, then n+1 becomes the whole point and the more you get the better at your hobby you become.www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0

No, me neither...
Other than it was local and it was cheap. :oops:0 -
What I'd suggest is that you give it to me. Then it's like a good will endeavour. Your karma and N+1 get a feed. And I get another bike.
Everyone wins.0 -
I think maybe you answered your own question.
You don't "do", cyclo-x etc...
Maybe you should step out of your comfort zone- sell the Allez and put it towards a x bike!0 -

But every time you use the bike you diminish it's value. A true collector would leave them in their original packaging!0 -
Spent yesterday cleaning it and stripping it down to its bare bones, ordered some new bits, cables, bar tape, tyres that sort of thing to freshen it up.
A thoroughly enjoyable day and undoubtedly cheaper than a night in the pub... There you go, I've justified it to myself.

How cheap was the bike / how expensive are your nights in the pub?0 -
A night out, 3am kebab and taxi home, over 100 squid.
No idea why, I remember as a kid going out and getting pissed on a tenner. 8)0 -
So a cheap Allez?!0

Yeah, I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise...0

I remember when beer was penny a pint...0
