I,m in the market for a new front light to replace my 3 year old Magicshine and came across this on deal extreme. http://www.dx.com/p/7t6-.7-x-cree-xm-l- ... _eMGPl_uSo Seems to be one hell of a light. Does anyone have any experience with this light or any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

If you want something bright from a known brand without going mad expensive.

If you are riding on the road this is already bright enough to annoy cars on full blast.

I can't comment on the light queried by the OP.

There's a whole myriad of great deals to be had on bike lights. My only experience with Catseye was a poor one in so far as the fixings from light to handle bar was not up to the job and I ended up having my light bounce off and under a car. It was replaced with a Hope 2 which I've had for years, used every day outside summer hours and it is still working perfectly. I also have a Hope 4 which is brighter - probably not necessary for use in town but great for unlit roads out of town.

Hope are also meant to be fantastic if you have any problems - I haven't had to find out.

Been there, done it. You don't need that much light. If you do be prepared to carry a sh|t load of batteries. I sold my 3 emitter chinese lamp as it I could not get more than an hours run time on low/med.

Not only do you not need it, it can be counterproductive.
Whilst something 50 yards off might be brightly lit on its own, if your eyes are swamped by mega-bright foreground it may as well be unlit.
