Tires for a 25mm wide carbon wheelset

Good Day
I am looking for Tires that could fit a 25mm wide wheelset. I am a big guy who weight 127 kg. I have YoeleoBikes made me a nice wheelset that could handle my weight. I had 25mm Continental tires that I had installed. The problem is that the tire and the rim widths are equal. That mad me fear the idea of lowering the tire pressure to make the ride smoother. My bike is Boardman Air 9.0. I am afraid of the tire would be pinched when cornering or the edge of the rim would scratch the asphalt. is it possible to install 28mm tires on the Boardman? Is there a 25mm tire that looks wider when installed on a 25mm wide wheelset?
Finally, I apologize for bothering anyone and thanks in advance.

The tyre will end up bigger... a 25 tyre will probably be 26-27 on a wide rimleft the forum March 20230

Unfortunately it did not. It is 25mm.0

OK your wheels are carbon clinchers I assume as it would be less of an issue for Tubs???
If your clincher wheel width is 25mm across and your tyres are rated as 25mm with the required tyre pressure the side walls will push out into the clincher and the bead (or lip) of the tyre will sit tight against the clincher so no problem.
Again I'm assuming these are road tyres & road wheels but what pressure are you running as I am struggling to see the problem or am I missing something?Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

I am looking into wider rims but why would a 25 come out wider? surely a narrower rim would balloon the tyre out more? no?0 -

Thank you for taking of your time to reply. My problem is that I am afraid of the tire being pinched by the rim and the road when cornering. My tire pressure is 110 psi. the Continental tire recommended pressure is 125 psi I think. The wheelset limit pressure is 130 psi. That is why I am looking for a tire that would be wider than a 25mm when installed to a 25mm wide rim. Or, Canthe Boardman Air frame handle the 28mm tires?0 -
You could certainly go to 120psi although I doubt you need to. In any case, I think you're worrying too much.
You can judge if a 28 will fit by seeing how much clearance your 25s have.0 -

That's OK it's what the good peps of BR are here for.
I run my tyres at a similar pressure and that is plenty hard enough that you very unlikely to risk a pinch flat when cornering (well I've not in my 5 years of road biking). Much more common on mountain bikes at pressures nearer to 30psi as the tyre can really move around a lot more when cornering (in my 20+ years of MTB'ing I've had my fair share of pinch flats)
As long as you have the tube properly seated in the tyre and the tyre seated in the rim you'll be fine, it's only where the tube gets stuck between the outside of the tyre and the inside of the rim that you'd have an issue and you should see that as your inflating the tube.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

I am starting to think that to. I took a ride today and mad a lot of cornering. nothing has happened. thanks for your concern.
Thanks Danlikesbikes for your effort. I think I will keep the Continental Tires.0 -
Good tyres and get good reviews, run them till their used and then see what takes your fancyPain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0

I know the GP4000s 23mm on my 25mm wide rims comes up at 26mm. The GP 4 seasons came up at 24.5mm (23mm tyre) and I have not tried anything else in the conti range on these rims. So a 25mm GP4000s (you could try these) will come up a bit wider than 27mm, I mean they come up at 27mm on a pacenti SL23 rim which is a tad narrower internally than most 25mm carbon clinchers.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
