Ribble have just released a new Sportive racing carbon road frame & it looks very nice!

WHole bike for £900 with shimano wheels & 105/tektro

Or just the frame & forks for £510

I dont fancy the whole ready built Ribble bike as I want Ultegra & decent wheels. I currenly have a Corratec CCT team with Ultegra 10 speed & some Campag Zondas on. I fancy a change though.

I was thinking of transferring the parts over onto the Ribble frame, to build the bike I want. Then sell the Corratec frame or keep as a spare.

WHat else would I need to buy? Headset, bottom bracket, new cables, bar tape. ANything else?

Is there anything else that I need to consider? i.e. any compatability issues

I have built mountain bikes before, but never road bikes.

I like the look of the new Sportive Racing frame too. Reckon it's unique to Ribble?

I'd like to see your build if you proceed. I don't think anything stands out of being an issue other than the headset and BB if your Corratec has different standards.

It's got ribble logo on the frame but there may be similar ones. I'm just trying to work out is it worth the hassle of buying new frame and changing parts over. Would it be a better frame than what I have. Imo it looks cosmetically nicer

There isn't that much difference between ultegra 6800 and 105 5800.
The ribble build as an overall package looks very compelling.
I am seriously considering the ribble as a purchase and would suggest you just go for the ribble full build and keep your ultegra build. Less hassle overall.

OK cheers for advice. On closer inspection, that Ribble build is a bit misleading, as the brakes & the chainset are not 105. The chainset doesnt look too great. If it was 105 throughout then yeah I probably would compramise.

Apparently it should be on bike builder in 2 weeks, so Ill have to be patient. Or build it myself

  • Will be interested to see this on the Bike Builder, at the moment they are expecting 8-8.5kg total weight on the current set up so will need a little bit of work to get it to a sweet weight point.

Looking at the frame sets you can get for similar money plus full 5800 group and wheels prob is the right choice. You will have something better than the ribble frame and prob better resale if you ever sell your bikes. I have never managed this yet!

You don't want to regret getting the bike you want in the end.
