Saw this ebay ad for a Roubaix " S works spec"

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Specialized-R ... 233f80e3e8

However, bike was a custom build based on a low grade SL2 frame with ultegra etc. Not a sniff of S works anywhere....

Oddly, the seller got very upset when I pointed this out.

His argument was that " SL2 frame was S works spec." And " 11 speed ultegra is same as SWorks with 11 speed gears....

Let's hope nobody falls for his bullshit.

  • Worth it for the pedals IMHO

well here is my ( slightly provocative) question to him

    Dear fr333r,

    Misleading....

Which part of it is S works spec????

    Ultegra groupset? Nope....
    SL2 Frame? Nope
    Hope wheels? Nope

    ???????

and here is his ranting illegible answer

    Dear carrock1967,

??????????? Are you the riddler or is there a key stuck on your computer ?????????????????!!! Well you seem to be a very angry man so this is likely pointless but I will try and reason with you, hey at least you will of made contact with a human this month. S-works is spelt with a hyphen so technically its just a lonely s with works written after it in the title anyway 2010 Roubaix S-works was SL2, if you read the description it is fairly clear its not a full s works hence custom build but I included it in the title due to the link to the 2010 frame and the fact that it was specced with carbon wheels and 11 speed drivetrain like the 2013 S-works.
If it really makes you feel better I will remove it from the title, so that, combined with an increased dose of your medication should hopefully mean you sleep easy tonight.
    All the very best.
    Johny Sworks-works

methinks he is an arse. :D

He's not said it was an S-Works though has he? He's over-hyping things a bit with regards to the spec (a bit like Specialized do with the whole S-Works thing anyway) which is what 90% of people on Ebay seem to do.

Can't really see why you'd bother going to the trouble of picking on this advert. There's an infinite number of far worse adverts that really are worth complaining about.

Not really. Plenty about though - eg fake Pinarellos advertised as the real thing and such like. Genuine attempts to deceive rather than plain old hyping.
