Avid db3s . What would be its alternative equivalent?

Just received a call from Evans concerning my brake issues and they have just sent me the same brake set that failed on me within 7 miles of moderate use .
I have told Evans about this and they have promised me a alternative set of brakes from another manufacturer but the problem is that they are having no idea what would be the equivalent for avid db3s from the likes of Shimano or hope.
Anyone have any idea what would be a reliable replacement of these POS and unproven sets at a similar budget ?

Maybe you just got a faulty set. These things can happen with even the very best products.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Ask for a set of deores, I've just gone from a set of elixir 7s to a set of shimano m446s that are below the deores and I'm happy with them, plus they're quiet.0

What was the fault by the way?0

Well. I had a pair of avid elixr 3rs on my camber which ended up locking up after only 10 miles which were then replaced by the said db3s and after a mere 7 miles literally exploded and leaked fluid when i was doing a mild descent at stratford"s Mt course . Just hope they do give me something other than avids after thisSpecialized Camber

The Deores would be a slight upgrade on paper and a major upgrade in reliability, but if you can swing SLX then go for it!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
