Dear all,
A friend has asked for help choosing a folding bike so I am asking for YOUR help! She has arthritic hands which means it's painful to put weight on them, so the ride position needs to be very upright (even for a 5'1" munchkin) and it mustn't require much hand strength to fold and unfold. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Well it depends what the other usage is? If going on busy trains I'd choose a Brompton all day and you have a choice of three different bar styles, two of which look very upright.

I find the Dahons we have at work to be quite difficult to fold - I certainly use more hand strength on those than should be necessary. I would expect a Brompton to be better.
    Faster than a tent.......

In my opinion, having owned two Dahons and now a Brompton (and three years of daily use) I'd have to say that the Brompton is a far superior bike. The M-Type or H-Type should be upright enough for your friend. I use the S-Type which has a much lower front.
