Good Morning All
Wanting some real world feedback/advice on a pack away waterproof/breathable jacket I can throw in my hydration pack, I know finding the perfect balance on waterproof and breath-ability is near impossible but what do you use?
I currently have a spray way jacket that I treat with Nikwax but its just too big, Needs to fit in my Camelbak Charge (11L) and Vango Rapide (20L)
Seen a Marmot Precip that I like

Needs to be wearable in downpours, I usually wear a base layer and a jersey or just a quick dry/wicking t-shirt/jersey
Thanks in advance

I just use a decathlon one - rockrider something, its damn waterproof which is good, doesnt have a hood which is less useful for general purpose wear, standing around in the rain but no problem when riding and has pit vents for a bit of airflow. If you ride up a hill in it in the rain, you may as well have not worn the jacket.
It packs down pretty small to fit my Dakine Duster.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
I've had some success in TKMaxx for waterproofs, the last one being a Berghaus one for under £70 (£130 elsewhere). Only 300g so no bother to carry.Viscount Grand Touring - in bits

Sorry for the late reply, Been to Go Outdoors today to take a look. Was one Marmot Precip left so tried it on the NanoPro material seems good and has some bold claims!
Anyway was £60 so decided I would sleep on it come home and found it on Amazon for £38

Cant go wrong! Seems to be two listing this one with just one colour option and another with colour options that average price is £48 going all way to £86.
Time will tell but seems a hell of a jacket, Heres some bumf on it

I have one of these. It does the trick in anything but the worst rain.0 -
I use a Gore Bike Wear Contest 2.0 AS WindStopper - It's a fantastic bit of kit and weighs next to nothing"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

They all make you boil-in-the-bag if you try hard enough, though. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

I agree. I have a number of goretex active £180+ jackets all of which I sweat like a beast in after a while anyway. The only real difference seems to be how long before you start sweating. A £20 packamac is almost instant, a £200 goretex active after about 20 mis of serious cadence.
I take mine to wear if I get a mechanical or need to wait around static and exposed for any reason (i.e. during the ard rock enduro waiting for colleagues to fix flats) - otherwise make sure you are warm and just get wet is my approach - but I appreciate not everyone would agree...0
