Di2 - commands for front shifter

Have been riding with Di2 for 6 weeks and love it. The only thing I am finding a bit weird is that the front shifter is programmed counterintuitively for me - I'd prefer the downshift to be on the other button, if that makes sense.

I've not plugged it into my pc at all since I picked up the bike - had no need to - but am wondering is a) this sort of change is possible to do, and b) if is is easy to do or too much of a pain in the arse, in which case I'd just reprogram my brain instead.

If you have the correct kit its very easy to do.

Depends on which battery you have.

I have an internal battery, tucked away in the seat post

You need the PC interface and matching s/w to re-program the shifters. Google the SM-PCE1 for the h/w then look for the matching E tube project s/w. S/w is a free d/l, plastic box with wires is £160 - £230 on UK web sites or £120 from a German site StarBike.com. Or go to a bike shop that has it.

Once you've got it you can set each switch to do whatever you want it to do. I did hear reports of a bike mechanic setting all switches to change up leaving the rider in 53/11 with no way of getting back. :)

If you have either 6870 or 9070 with the internal SM-BTR2 battery. the included SM-BCR2 Charger is also a pc interface and can be connected to the computer to customise the buttons and update the firmware.

    What he said ^

You don't need the diagnostic kit to program the buttons if you have the newer junction box with the internal battery.

I upgraded a 6770 bike to internal battery setup which meant I could update all the firmware, change the button setup and enabled multi shift etc.

Awesome, thanks for everyone's posts. Will take a look in the morning, am pretty sure I have everything I need to do it myself.

I have changed my buttons to 'paddle shift' configuration.

It is much more natural as the chain moves in the direction of the button you press.

We only have the tradition layouts as cable gears were stuck with working in that format. With Di2 you aren't similarly restricted.
