Unpadded mitts?

I find it more comfortable on long rides when wearing no gloves or unpadded, long fingered MTB gloves. However, the long fingered gloves can get a bit hot.

I could do with some mitts that give better grip than my bare hands when they get a bit sweaty, along with a degree of skin protection should I fall off.

Does anyone know any or can recommend some?

Thanks!

I use Pearl izumi race mitts. They have a miniscule amount of padding and match my bmc timemachine. Got them for 8 euro’s at RVV this year.

I am also a fan of riding without gloves, but this can cause issues on longer rides - so I use POC mitts which have no padding to really speak of (a double layer of leather on the palm).

    Really comfy and nice.

Specialized also do an SL pro mitt that only has a leather palm. Used them for two summers and like them a lot

Thanks for the swift reply guys.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of different sizes available for the Pearl Izumi gloves or the POC.

The Specialized ones look ideal. Shame the Evans in Liverpool doesn't appear to have any stock, as I plan to go out tomorrow for 120km or so and picking some up on the way home would have been great. I may order a couple of sizes though to see which fit best.
  • Giro Zeros. Pretty cheap and do the job nicely.

Any type of 'track' mitts should suit.

The Giro Zeros look great too, but finding stock is difficult.

My first pair of 1980s old-fashioned crochet 'n' leather track mitts lasted aeons. 3 subsequent pairs of modern (2000s) mitts have each started to disintegrate within a year...

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I have a pair going spare. They were a bit too big and to be fair the stitching is coming apart near the cuff on one but it is quite minor an repairable with a needle and thread. I use a smaller pair I got and I really like the soft leather palm.
