upgrading Allez from Shimano Claris to Campag Veloce
Picking up a 2014 Specialized Allez on Tuesday. Just getting into road biking and I went for the basic model as I intend to upgrade to Campagnolo as I like the look of them more and couldnt see the point in paying £1k when the wheels and Sora stuff was coming off anyway...
It comes with Claris 8spd as standard and my plan is to ride it and see if I get the roadie bug and then invest the £400 to switch to veloce 10spd...just need to know what I need?
I've won some brand new campag khasmin ASY wheels off ebay for £52 so I'm already quids in. £275 gets me this:

What else would I need?
Does anyone know what sort of BB size the Allez takes? I'm guessing I'll need a new one, but what?
Thanks in adavance

Your Allez uses a OCTALINK BB-ES25 http://si.shimano.com/#models/2052 double click the link to open the PDF file. You will need to measure the BB shell width, it will be either 68mm or 73mm and could be English Thread.
I'm not familiar with Campagnolo, however I would have thought that you will need to get the Campy BB for your chosen Campy Crankset, that will fit the Allez BB shell.
Looking at the Merlin link I would guess you would need the Power Torque Bottom Bracket (Outboard Cups) English, if the Allez BB shell is 68mm. You could ring Merlin and ask them which one you need.0 -
99 out of 100, you'll need the standard English BB cups for the Veloce group.
The Octalink BB will mean it wont be an oversized or pushfit BB. And Specialized will not use Italian threading, so my bet is a 68mm ISO (English) BB. So just go with the default first BB option when picking the groupset (Power Torque Bottom Bracket English).
The other BB listed in the options will be for oversized bottom brackets (BB30 etc).0
