New big chainring any point in getting narrow/wide

I need a new big chain ring on my 2012 Trance - some of the teeth are non-existant and its starting to look like a bashguard.
Anyway, I dont use the large ring much but atthe price differential between standard and narrow/wide I was thinking of going for the latter anyway. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?
