Handbuilt deep tubs

Hi
Sorry for yet another wheel thread! Have done the usual trawl through forum but as I am not looking for Zondas or Archetypes on Novatech/105 I couldnt find the answer!!
I'm looking to get some deepish (40-50mm) carbon tubular wheels, currently if I go factory build I can get a decent deal on some Reynolds Forty-Six (£1100) but wanted to see whether going handbuilt would be a good option. Can you get tubular rims from the likes of Zipp/Reynolds/Enve without buying the wheelset? And is it cost effective to do so and have built on some decent hubs? Would appreciate some advice.
Would mainly be for some races and triathlons and club runs. Would be summer/decent weather use as I already have a set of Zondas and some handbuilt wheels for everything else. I weigh 75-80kg
Cheers

You can get Enve, but they are ludicrously priced... you can probably import Reynolds from Wheelbuilder.com, but it's probably easier to get them to build them for you or you can read through the lines and imagine Superstar own wheels are built with Reynolds rims and they are a cost effective option.
You can't get Zipp, but again, Wheelbuilder.com can made you a custom set of these...
The cost is in line with buying the correspondent wheels... on balance only worth it to avoid the dreaded Zipp hubsleft the forum March 20230 -
is it not possible that the Superstar are Reynolds?
Bit like the Planet-x/Gigantex?

That's what I said... they probably can't say it by contract, but if you read through the lines, it looks like they areleft the forum March 20230 -
The blue Reynolds brake pads was a giveaway to me.
We need a wheelbuilder on here to inspect some :PScott Foil Di2 viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=13020685&p=19496365#p19496365

I thought the superstar ones were all clinchers?0

Any idea what the superstar hubs are like? Seems like a pretty good deal although they only seem to have the full build with the Reynolds rims in clinchers?0

Yeah, forgot about that...
The hubs are probably a taiwanese job... it's down to how easy it is to find a spare freehub and such...left the forum March 20230 -
If you can get some cheapish tubular rims (as I did: £99 from Planet-x) then have them made up by a wheel builder, however these rims are no longer available. But if I was looking at getting some "premium" rims that are going to cost £££ then I'd be more inclined to get a factory set or handbuilt that come with some kind of warranty.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Yes, but they use to have the 24 H as well... the 16 is pretty useless as a rear wheel. Besides, at the time they had a full house of rims, while now you get the impression they're flogging the leftovers, which is always a hassle, should you need a spare or should one being faulty/need replacement under warranty... no longer worth botheringleft the forum March 20230 -
Both my wheels (front and rear) use the 24H rear rim that is no longer available :-(WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Yeah, bit like having a set of Mavic, I guess... try not to break them or you'll have to ride Ebay rims...left the forum March 20230 -
Except they only cost me £350 and have brass nipples! They are perfect for what I wanted...occasional fast summer riding. Actually for the use they get, Ebay rims would be perfectly OK I expect.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels
