overshifting between 5th-1st cogs

Evening all

I seem to have developed a problem with my rear derailleur (Campy Athena)... when shifting up/out from round about the 5th or 4th smallest cog, the chain jumps at least one or two cogs. I thought the cable might be too loose but it is absolutely fine shifting in the opposite direction and even if I tighten the barrel adjuster far enough to hear the chain rattle on a bigger cog, I still have the same problem shifting up/out.

I wondered if it might be time to replace the cassette as it's done almost 6000km. I doubt it's the chain as this was replaced fairly recently.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

If you have replaced the chain recently but not the cassette then that is the answer esp after that mileage
