I picked up one of the above in the current sale to have a look as I'm no where near a store. The intention being to look, try it on and return it. Silly me; Its lovely, and now i have a dilemma.
Now i always struggle in winter with running too hot and I sweat like a trooper. I've not worn the jacket riding yet for obvious reasons but i was wondering what the experiences of those who usually run hot have had with this?
I ride at a pretty high intensity (for me) for upto 3 hours as a rule. I seldom ever pootle. I also commute a short 7 mile round trip.
Usually i wear:
10-16 degrees - SS light B/l, SS sportwool jersey, arm warmers, gilet in back pocket if i get a chill.
6-10 degrees - LS warm B/l, LS sportwool jersey and gilet
1-6 degrees - LS thermal base, LS winter style jersey and gilet
For comparison i found the gore phantom a bit too hot for anytihng over zero and below zero it was just not breathable enough for me.
I'd be grateful for any replies as i need to decide whether its worth me keeping hold of this or not.
Thanks

Just wear it with a lighter merino base layer.0

If you run hot it's fantastic. You'll be wearing it when the rest of us are wearing our heavier jackets. I plan on using mine for the days when it's 5 or so. If I have to commute first thing in the sub zero I don't think it will be enough. But if you run warm then it's brilliant for quite a lot of conditions IMO.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Thanks. My previous soft shell was hardly used and I don't want to end up with another jacket that' only comes out sub zero. Would be nice if I could use it late autum through early spring. My other option is a breathable windstopper0
