Afternoon All,

I am in training for a 100 mile road ride end of next month. I have only ever ridden mountain bikes but have borrowed a Cannondale Caad3 to do the ride and love the bike!

I have now sold my mountain bike to fund my first road bike, unfortunately the bloke im borrwing the caad3 from wont sell it too me!

I am looking at spending around £300/£400 on a bike so after some advice on what to buy?

I have seen a Cannondale Caad6 on ebay at the moment for around £350 and would like something similar to the one i am borrwoing?

Thanks in advance!

I was in a similar boat to you but didn't need to sell my MTB, I found a Specialized Allez on here for £425 and think its a pretty decent starter bike.

I had £300 -£400 to spend on my first road bike, I think i read every possible review on the Triban 500 SE.

It looks great and quite alot of people cant believe i paid £350 for it. Looks slick and from my opinion, as my first road bike so cheap its amazing. Just google and read all the reviews on it mate there fantastic.

  • I too bought a Specialized Allez although I bought mine unseen from Ebay for £300.

Decent enough bike (despite the questionable description from the seller) and now I ride a posh bike, I've kept the Allez for when the skies are grey and it might rain.

You see, you can't ride your best bike in the rain. It's probably in 'the rules' or something.
