Chain ring bolts

I've got shimano 105 cranks. Outer ring to replace. Model is 5600 series. Anyone know is it a hex key for the chain ring bolts or a torx fitting? Anyone know what size.

Shimano site does not confirm size or type.

    Look at it and you'll see surely? FWIW all the ones I've done have been hex.

    I cannot answer your question directly, but I did have a bit of a "moment" with the chainring bolts on my 7900 Dura Ace chainset. I was assured that the bolts where a T25 whereas I later discovered to my literal cost, they were T30 (ie Torx).

    The only sure solution is to (carefully!) try a number of sizes to see what is a best fit, or take trip down to your local bike shop.

    My 5603 triple needed an allen key from the front and a chainring bolt spanner at the back.
