Quite attractive at 58 quid on CRC... anything else worth considering in that price range (Under 60 pounds?)

Need to have a pad/ need to be black or black-ish

They should be fine. Build will always be good. Is the pad great? No, but it's ok. How much are DHB Zero's at the moment? The pad in there is excellent.

75 quid, probably a bit less with the platinum discount that I lost (the real sign of a recession)... seems a lot

I happily used the dhb Vaeon Roubaix Padded Bib Tight over last winter. Warm and comfy and less than £50.
    RIP commute...
Sometimes seen bimbling around on a purple Fratello Disc or black and red Aprire Vincenza.

Yep. I am a medium in those (and other dhb bibs) and an XL in Castelli!

SportPursuit has Giordana on sale atm.

    The FRC bibs are brilliant.

I found the pad in these pretty uncomfortable compared with my reasonably budget OneTen bib shorts. YMMV

I used a pair of these over winter just gone and loved them. Super comfortable pad and they kept me warm enough to. As always with Castelli watch the sizing as they are a bit tight!

I would describe the kiss3 pad as great. For me, I find it just as good as the X2 pad.

Well, I was only considering Castelli as it's 40 % off... I wouldn't normally aim that high...

I have Velocissimo, Sorpasso and the wind/waterproof ones - Velos are really spring/autumn weight IMO - if you can stretch to Sorpasso, they're superb, wearable down to single digits, supremely comfortable and pretty durable IME.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Thanks Monty... budget for these is pretty small... I had a pair of DHB Roubaix in the past and I'll probably go for these again, as they were good down to zero

Fair enough. the pad on them is very good but not excellent. i've got their summer equivalents for longer rides and they are perfectly serviceable. I did Liege Bastogne Liege in them (the full 274 km) and was ok afterwards!
