Hi everyone,
I would like to ask some help regarding an issue I am having with my bike. I wanted to upgrade my bike and I bought the Shimano Ultegra 6800 Groupset which is an 11 speed however, my rear wheel is the Shimano RS80 C50 which is only a 10 speed. Could I use the new groupset with a 10 speed casette? I was also thinking to change the freehub unit, could I just buy a the Shimano Ultegra rear hub or a power tap freehub body kit and replace it? Regarding the ultegra rear hub option, could I just take out the freehub unit and change it with the one I have in the RS80?
Thank you all in advance for the help!

No; well, specifically you can use most of it except for the R/H shifter, as this is indexed for 11 speed, you'd have to purchase a 10 speed STI which would push up the cost. Not sure if the 11 speed rear mech would work with that, but I suspect it would.I was also thinking to change the freehub unit, could I just buy a the Shimano Ultegra rear hub or a power tap freehub body kit and replace it? I don't think it's that simple? As most people say you need a new wheel, especially with factory builts. I too have RS80 in C24 form and it's because of those I upgraded to 6700 not 6800.0 -
so long as you use the 11sp chain you can use the 10sp cassette with the 11sp group, its been done before, and I ve ridden a bike set up like this, for junior racing, shimano don't make a junior cassette in 11sp - so they ve no choice, aside from a miche junior cassette.
but why would you? sell your wheels and by some 11sp ones, none of the 11sp hub parts will fit your wheel.0 -
Thanks for the answers, I am gonna give it a try..if it wont work I am just gonna put my old ultegra back on and wait until I can manage to get an 11 speed wheelset0

You cant buy campag freehub bodies for shimano hubs.
Just use your 11 speed cassette but remove the smallest sprocket so it's a 10 speed. Set the limit screws so it won't overshift and it should be fine.0 -
