A mate of mine wants to buy a hybrid to get fit on - he lives in the city so doesn't want a mountain bike and doesn't fancy drop down bars of a road bike.

I know next to nothing about hybrids, I've had a look on decathlon but don't know if they're a good deal or not?

any suggestions?

cheers :D

Hey Kev - I've got a rigid MTB that I built up as a commuter/going-to-the-shops bike but don't really use. It's an unbranded alu frame (about 18", IIRC). 3x8 gearing, v-brakes, weighs about 12.5kg.

Looking for about £125 - and can offer a choice of tyres to suit.

Sorry for poor pic - will sort out a better one if he's at all interested:

Decathlon fit5 is a great value bike, also the Carrera's either subway for an MTB based bike that is built to survive a nuclear event or the Gryphon for something lighter and flightier.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
