Currently riding scott foil with campag zondas which are fairly new and fine. I am thinking that I'd like something a bit deeper, maybe 38-50mm. However, I live in an area which is pretty mountainous entailing lots of climbing and lots of descending so I am thinking that full carbon is not a good idea. The roads are generally very smooth but there are occasional areas of cobbles. I weight about 80kgs and I won't be using the wheels for racing but the odd granfondo and spirited group rides. My budget is up to about £700. What are my options or should I just stick to the zondas?

Any views on these? http://www.probikeportugal.com/index.ph ... er=product

I found out yesterday that carbon is not bad in the wet well not the ones I have and I do not think the hill we have in Britain can really challenge a decent carbon rim. Some of the decents I rode in Calbria might but we don't have anything like that.

Those Vison wheels though seem to be a bit of a compromise. the weight is not low and the hubs used look like they are reasonably light so that means heavy rims. For 42mm rim to weigh close to 575g I wonder what they have made them from (I am assuming 350g for the hubs and 220g for the spokes and nipples and that maybe an overestimate).
