Hi guys new to the forum and just looking for a bit of help and advice im looking to get a new mtb but the choice, range and difference in spec is to be honest mind boggeling.
iv looked at a few around the £1000 mark as i think this is a nice entry point were i can get a good bike with a good spec that i wont have to update anytime soon.
im been drawn to the whyte 805 -

That's a big change in budget from your original £1000!
Good bikes, the frame is a bit Marmite, very stiff and gives a big of a harsh ride by all accounts, some love the responsiveness, others don't like the harshness and feel it adds to rider fatigue, not ridden one myself.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Again, superb bike, great price.
The geometry is quite 'slack' though. This means is very stable at speed (especially down gradients), but can feel sluggish to steer on the flat. it's quite a hard hitting bike. That said is pretty light!0 -
