For all the times I stopped to asked people with bikes upside down if they needed help paid off today. 10 miles from home and a spoke snapped. Wheel was all over the place and even though I had a spoke key with me I ws struggling until a group of riders from Alderly Edge way came around the corner, stopped and gave a load of advice.

I got home at a much slower place but if anyone here was one of them this morning, thanks once again.

Spoke replaced and ready to go again :)

Happened to me once. Luckily, I keep a small amount of electrical tape wrapped around the seat post, and used it to tape the offending spoke to its closest neighbour.
Then I released the brake tensioner lever so the Pringle shaped wheel would turn.

Absolutely, I wrapped the broken spoke in between two spokes near it to secure it and make sure it wasn't contacting the wheel where the brakes made contact.

I then looked at where the wheel was out (it was rubbing on on the brake pad) and either tightened up the opposite site of where it was out to pull it back in or loosened off the spoke on the side of the cassette to let it back in as I found out today that there has to be more tensioned on the cassette side than the other side so I didn't want to over tighten it and ping another one.

I don't think it helped going down a bridal path a few miles earlier that a CX bike would have struggles with. Strava route builder sent me that way and I had no idea where I was. It was only short but it was pretty hard going and very rought. I went very slow!

Wonder what the groom had to say about that. I think you mean bridle...
