Im looking to replace my truvativ gpx 104 36t spocket on my 2x10 x9.
is this the item i seek?
i hope so because its rather well priced, so well priced that i think this might not be what im looking for..
so is this 2x10 compatable?

No. that is a chainring (for the front cogs not the back)
It's rare to find single sprockets these days other than the large oversize ones that are around for running 1x10Bikes:

sorry for the confusion,, it is the front chain ring that i need to replace, but only the larger of the two.
i have just replace the back with a xt cassette0 -
Yep, that'll do it. Weirdly it says inner, but I can't think why anyone would have a 104mm BCD inner on a double.0
