Anyone know of any chain gangs or training rides around the Sidmouth/Honiton area ? Looking for something up to a couple of hours max rather than a longer club run style ride. Thanks

Exeter Wheelers run a chaingang that goes up the RockBeare straight this is about 4 miles from Sidmouth. They also used to run a mid-week chaingang from just East of the Matford roundabout, meeting point on the roundabout where the A379 goes off to Dawlish. This went past Powderham, Starcross to Dawlish Warren and back. If you rode from Sidmouth and back would be nearing a couple of hours. It's been a couple of years since I was down there but contact the club and see if they still do it.

I live in the same area as you and race with the Exeter Wheelers. Currently there are 2 midweek chain gangs Tuesday and Thursday, starting at Aldi Exeter at 1830, heading down to Collumpton, Willand, Tiverton and then back into Exeter following the river. Due to work I cannot make the start but sometimes ride out to Collumpton and join in from there. By the time I'm home it's 60-65 miles. So more like 3 hours from Honiton.
Chard Wheelers also do a chain gang I believe but getting there is a bit trickier, either tiny lanes or A30-A35 which has dangerous traffic.

Personally I do a lot of training by myself midweek as it is hard to find reliable training partners of a similar standard around here and do a midweek race most weeks. If you fancy meeting for some evening training then pm me.

There's also Sid Valley CC. Occasionally see one of there riders at local races but I don't know if they run a chain gang, doesn't show one on there website.

OK thanks - not sure if I'll get the chance to get out with it being a family holiday but I always take the bike with the intention of doing something.
