Building a bike on the cheap

I'm after building a mountain bike for messing about on light trails (such as through parks and up a place near me called Rivington)
Am i realistic in thinking I can build something from second hand parts for £100 to £150
I take it all I'll need is a frame, brakes, gears, seat, handlebars, drivetrain, wheels
Has anyone else done it already? I know I'll be looking at older stuff but am I wasting my time?

I imagine it would be easier to just pick up a second hand bike for £150. There's plenty of hardtails with mechanical disk brakes on eBay a few years old for that sort of money.0

As above, you'd be going some to build a bike for that, just buy complete.0

Just to echo the above comments, buying a complete bike might be a better option...
Here's a good start...

I set max budget to £150, but it might be worth saving up a little bit more.Current:

Second hand complete bike has got to be the way to go for £150.
A quick search and I found this
