Hi,

New to the forum, looking at changing my current bike (GT aggressor) had it about 4 years now, looking at going through cycle to work scheme. I like the Voodoo Bizango but Halfords are not in the scheme, so I am after some advice as to a bike of similar price which is as good/similar to the Bizango, I am after a 29er, but don't want to go above £700. All suggestions would be most helpful.

Thanks

    Which scheme then?

Why a 29er as a matter of interest? In other words have you decided on the 29er for the right reasons!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • The scheme is cyclescheme.co.uk, had a go on a 29er and like it, and decided that's the route I want to take :)

Which retailers can you use ?

    E.g. Evans, wiggle etc.

And what frame size are you roughly looking at ?

We can give you some idea's then.
  • Based in West Midlands, local shops to me two wheels and raceco cycles ( both Stourbridge way), went into two wheels and was shown a Giant talon 2 27.5, £749, which was a medium frame (17") I think, feedback? Going to look at raceco tomorrow.
  • Ok, so I think I have it down to possibly these two, the cube I am yet to see in the metal, but shop is not far away to go look

    Advice most appreciated

So no 29ers then? Why no tthe Cube acid in 29er flavour given your earlier assertion that you wanted to go that route? Not that I am saying you should!

I think the spec on the two bikes is pretty similar - wheels are the week points - forks are ok for the price bracket, gears and brakes solid performers

For me the Cube probably shades it for the shorter chainstay lengths and wheelbase given the majority of the other geometry figures are pretty similar. I'd also take a look at the Scott Aspect 710 and the Whyte 801 if you can push the budget a little higher.
    Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.
  • After talking to guy in bike shop and some research I have decided to go down the 650b route, hence the bikes listed, I will take a look at the other two you mentioned, but I would need to find a shop near me that sells them on on the cycle scheme
  • Looked at the Scott and Whyte bikes and both are same price as the two I was looking at, are they better spec bikes? If so it makes perfect sense as they are in my budget, question is which one of the Scott and Whyte is better?
