Im thinking about a set of the above. looking at a set of 38mm x 20.5mm wide. they've pointed me (obviously) at the dearer set which is 23mm wide.. would i notice the difference in the 2? :?

Depends if you have any vernier calipers.
technically, wider rim, so wider tyre, so bigger contact patch, so better handling.0 -
Road.cc is doing a rolling review of them at the mo, Google it.0

I've got some 23x50 Far Sports and I'm very happy with them.

Same here. They are light, stiff and feel very fast. I am a happy customer.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

Turbo I paid extra for the ceramic hubs.
I don't know how they compare to the standard hubs but they are smoother than silk cod pieces for only $40 extra.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

They are also reflective so a great addition if you cycle in the dark

One small word of warning. I bought a set of FM C38's 23mm wide earlier in the year. On initial inspection they seemed fine. One was slightly off true so I took it to my LBS who refused to work on it as they said the rim was deformed! I got in touch with Far Sports who, after a bit of toing and froing agreed to replace the wheels FOC. A week later I had a new set of RIMS which I then had to get built up so additional expense. The rims were also a different profile/model to the ones I had initially ordered and not as nice cosmetically. I decided to cut my losses and just use them but to be honest I don't have much faith that they will last that long.
In short it's fine as long as the wheels are true etc but a gamble that you have to be prepared to take. Just wanted to throw this out there for a balanced perspective.0 -
cheers for the heads up..0

No problem. Not saying don't take the plunge but if something does go wrong China is a long way away! Sandy who I dealt with was actually very helpful. I might just have been unlucky. It seems that the exact model I bought is not offered on their site any more. Coincidence?0

Yeh its sandy who ive been dealing with as well.0

I got my LBS to check mine as I still had a broken leg and couldn't ride anyway.
He said they were perfect and had been built well. He hadn't heard of them and was genuinely interested.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S
