Maybe not everybody's favourite commentator on Eurosport but it's sad to see he has just died at the relatively young age of 59.

    Different Mike Smith. However, there is a cycling connection. He was a TV helicopter pilot for the Tour of Britain (he owned the chopper company I think)

    Yeah, confused me for a second too - especially as I learned about it from a tweet by Ned Boulting.

    The one who died was the guy who had the bad helicopter crash about 30 years ago. His wife (Sarah something?) was involved too.
    I'm left handed, if that matters.

    Ah I was going to ask, as they had very similar voices.

    This Mike Smith did a lot of helicopter filming, including on cycling and Top Gear

    His wife was Sarah Green
