Usually a decent little race. I can't see Sagan winning this but he'll be there abouts again.

Attack by Lopez (Sky). Probably just trying to find some form?

Montagauti, Visconti, and De Marchi join Lopez. Could be strong.

All together now over the top of the Arkale, despite attacks from Michael Albasini and Ivan Rovny. 30km to go.

Wrong time of the year, could be a cracking race! Where is Rui Costa?

Valverde out on his own with a decent gap with 2km to go
  • I don't really like Valverde but he knows how to win a race!!!

Valverde wins after slipping off on the descent. Mollema 2nd, Rodridguez 3rd and Nieve in 4th. Maybe Jelle Vanendert in 5th?

Looked like snapped forks on Yates bike. No idea if that was as a result of the crash or the cause of it. Luckily he looked ok.

Enjoyed that finale. Much better that previous years in terms of showing San Sebastian off plus made for interesting racing.

Gutted for Yates, I reckon the reason Valverde went solo was as he was less sure of his chances in a sprint with Yates than the others. I was surprised how many riders were in contention at the start of the final climb.

What happened to Gerrans? Thought he would have been up there, especially as he didn't complete the tour.

Pull on the front to close down a break of 7 into the penultimate climb. Consensus was he wasn't up for the win and was working for Albasini or maybe Yates).

Thanks for the updates crampeur, I will watch it back later. Happy for Valverde - he showed well to win today and last year in this race he also made a nice solo move which may have worked out. Nice that Yates was running with the top boys but of course a shame for him to crash.

    It's a post-Tour criterium, basically an exhibition race - it's not a proper race.
