Carbon seat post & bars into alloy frame

Guys,
Bit of a quick question - thinking of changing my seat post and bars to some carbon ones (no other reason than I like carbon..... well they'll be a few grams lighter too lol).
My frame/stem are alloy - can I just put the seatpost & bars straight in and tighten the clamps or should I use carbon assembly paste?
Thanks

Carbon isn't necessarily lighter, in fact plenty of cheaper 'carbon' parts are just a cosmetic wrap over an alu part.
You can use carbon assembly paste, reduces the necessary clamping force. Personally I don't, with no ill effects, but mainly because I don't have any.0 -
I would agree, buy carbon parts wisely, not all are rubbish, but some are.
I use assembly paste, as njee says it reduces the clamp load required which can eb quite high with some shiny smooth carbon parts into some frames.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Cheers chaps._______________
