Having spent some wonderful hours round the Cotswolds over the last few weeks we can confirm the routes for the Blenheim Palace Sportive on Sunday 17 August (running a sportive is a great excuse to get the miles in while 'working').

60 mile route is here:

100 mile route is here:

The route is broadly similar to the 2012 event but for the 100 mile we've thrown in the Roundhill climb outside of Winchcombe and on both routes the final 15 miles now run down to Sherborne and the Barringtons. The 100 mile features 1800m of ascent so,while it's not a leg breaker, event finishers will know that they have had a decent day out on the bike. With very little flat it's very much a rouleurs parcours.

Blenheim Palace have opened up their roads for a Family Fun Ride on the day and we should have a BC Go Ride course for children. Also in attendance in our event village will be the likes of Shutt VR, Take 3 Tri and Black Sheep CC. We will also have the Oxford School of Sports Massage on hand to provide FREE sports massage for riders after the event.

Based on the email I got yesterday, is there only one rest stop? (at Lower Swell) - albeit you pass it twice
  • simona75, yes that's correct. One stop but the 100 mile route loops back to it at 64 miles.

    Great, thank you
  • Online Entry (that's ONLINE entry) for the Blenheim Palace Sportive will finish at 10am on this Friday 15th August. However if there are any lightweights who want to wait to see what the weather will be like on the day we are offering on the day entry from 6.30am on Sunday 17th. The weather forecast is, er, fluid at the moment - moving between sunshine/ 18-22 degrees and showers. Thought it can't be as bad as last Sunday. Can it? (well done to anyone who rode in that weather. I have never been so glad to not get an entry to an event)
