Loose cleats

Hi all,
I'm running spesh carbon soled shoes with XT spds. I've also got a pair of cheaper Shimano rubber/plastic soled shoes. With the carbon soled shoes the cleat clips into place but then moves around (up/down), but doesn't with the Shimano shoes. They're both new cleats and the only difference I can see is the cleats bite into the sole of plastic on the Shimano shoes more whereas the carbon soles don't allow this to happen (you can see the teeth on the cleat clearly).
Anyone else had this? Will grinding a bit of the teeth off the cleat resolve the issue?
Cheers, Paul

I reckon it's more likely that the cleat screws are topping out in the holes of the Spesh shoes, so they're not actually tightening the cleat against the sole plate properly - If I'm right then filing the "teeth" would only make this worse. Try some slightly shorter screws first.0
