I am now riding more with others on a regular basis and think I need gears.
More for top end cruising rather than the hill climbing.
I do not want to change my bike if possible.
Is a 1 x 9 set up better than alfine? could I race with the alfine?
I have a Genesis Io is the Genesis Altitude the same frame with gears?
Could I have some braze ons added to the frame, a derailieur hanger perhaps?
What do you suggest?

The Alfine is a bit heavy for racing.
You'd need a mech hanger and all the cable stops, adding them will make a mess of a proper single speed frame, personally I wouldn't!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
DMR do a chaintug with built in derailleur hanger, but I agree with the Rookie, I wouldn't.0
