The Tour without his voice blaring out in the background will be different.

Great read and the video is excellent. His voice is crystal clear - every word understood.

Also worth noting that Jean-Paul Olivier is also retiring (70 years old). He is the chap that does the commentary on the old churches, monuments etc.

His retirement means that just about every pro race in France will sound different.
    It will be really strange.

A double hammer blow. While we only hear him for 3 weeks in July, he's become synonymous with Le Tour for me.
    Both will be sadly missed.

Main memory of him when I was watching the tour on some fairly anonymous transition stage from Figiac to Toulouse.

Constantly read out the riders' palmares which ultimately meant he said 'vainqueur' a lot which to an English ear sounds like 'w@nker'.... Fairly amusing when you're young.
  • He's on the post Tour crit circuit !
