What are the best forks I can fit on my Carrera Fury?

Hi all,
I was looking for some advice, I'm trying to decide what the best fork I can get for my Carrera Fury is.
I have the 2012 model with the Raidon X2 forks and want to upgrade to something better. As far as I can tell I am slightly limited because the frame head uses a straight through design instead of tapered and has a 9mm QR.
Can anyone recommend some decent forks for this frame please?
Thanks

Just a guess, but a Carrera will be 80-120mm0

I had a look for 2012 fury's to see the fork travel (120) and they come up as 15mm axles not 9mm0
-
It has 120mm travel. Yes your right, its 15mm not 9mm, my mistake.
Was thinking of bidding on a Reba RTL. Any alternatives?0 -
SIDs, same lowers, lighter uppers/internals.0

Reba RLT is ok. If your buying Rockshox, I would avoid dual air. I have had a few dual air forks and became very familiar with air spring rebuilds. They can be quite unreliable, usually either a circlip or o ring coming off.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

You could consider getting a new front wheel that would take a 15mm . Run 2012 dual air sid and rate highly.0

I cant find a dual air sid with 120mm travel thats non tapered.0

Reba Reba.....said like a mexican....0

That wopuld be "a Reba, a Reba, a Reba2?
The OP said the best, SIDs.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
I found a great deal on a Reba RL but it has a 175mm steerer length. Is that too short for the fury frame?0
-
I think that will be 'just' long enough, but measure it and see (from base of crown race to just below the top of stem)
I believe my steerer is 185mm in my Carrera frame and I have 10mm of spacer.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Any updates on this thread? My forks are dying and I was looking at possible upgrades. Would I get away with a 140 or 150 travel?0

Depends what bike you have? But on a Carrera hardtail, no.

No unless the frame is designed for that amount of travel. Look for some replacements around the same travel as on the bike to be sure of not breaking the frame.0 -
Suntour Epixon.. In budget and next model up from Raidon.
As good or better than the rockshox equivalent at that price.
Think mines a 2017 model.
They still do straight steer & 26er models models too if you need.

Well I was wondering if there were any actual answers to the fork on Carrera question, last answer was in 2014 and things have changed (not me and my bike mind).
Matty that is what I was after, I have a 2014/15 fury with 120 travel. I was looking at Fox floats to be fair but you’ve given me food for thought.
Rookie I’ve been on here a while previously but lost login details, I followed the weight loss of your kraken then. I want to keep going with the fury as all the lads I ride with have bigger pockets than I and it’s very satisfying as “the fat lad on Carrera” to have to drag em along0 -
Think epixons are 9mm QR though, at least mine is.0
