Handlebars and Rockrider 8.1

Hi everyone,
I have a few questions about handlebars in general, specifically the handlebars on my Rockrider 8.1..
I'm finding the handlebars fairly uncomfortable for my wrists at the moment. They tilt downwards towards the end of the bar, so it feels like the outsides of my hands are pointing towards the ground, which is causing some pain in my wrists after longer rides, considering I'm sat quite high up on the bike.
In my limited experience, most bars I've seen tilt the opposite way, with the end of the bar tilting upwards. In previous years I was a BMX fiend, which I ran with 2-piece flat bars. I also used to ride my father's old '95 Cinder Cone that came with flats.
Basically, my question is, can I simply spin the bars around so the ends rise upwards instead of downwards, or should I look at investing in some flat bars?
Not sure I've explained my problem very well, so can provide pictures if need be!
Thanks
