Hi All
Anyone been to Glentress just wondering what the midge/biting insects are like there, not ridden in Scotland before, so is bug spray worth carrying with me?

Lots and lots of midges up in scotland, Avon skin so soft (yes it's a moisturiser) is your best bet - the forces swear by it.0

Been many a time and never noticed it to be a problem tbh. But never harm to have it in the bag.0

Know what you mean in the Terenig forest by where I live in Wales one run down through the trees on the Welsh 2 Day with every breath in you swallowed loads of them, my face felt like it was sunburned with all the midge bites :shock:0 -
They're not an issue, you just need to MTFU.0

Apparently the new Skin So Soft doesn't repel the midges. Just keep moving and they don't tend to be an issue. If there's even a tiny bit of wind you'll usually be ok!

I have no idea what's going on here.0 -
It depends on the conditions really. If it is a bit damp and muggy and you're in the woods and not moving then there can be hoardes of them. Esepcially higher up.
The best repellant stuff is called 'Smidge'.0 -
Firstly Thanks to everyone for all the help and advise.
Well we went today and had a fantastic time, we hired a couple of full suss bikes to see how we would get on with them, to be fair the people at Alpine Bikes were very helpful indeed.
We rode the red had some food and then did half the blue, great day out.
