68.7km/h for Vos and Wild at the sprint.

Shame Vos won and that there was a crash in the finale.

Ah well fair play to ITV4 for covering it. Shame Eurosport chose not to.
It was on British Eurosport before Greg & Stefano.
    Good for British Eurosport.
It was on several of the different European Eurosport channels too. Unfortunately no such thing at Dutch Eurosport, is there?

She's very pretty and that is a nice dress if you like that sort of thing but why wasn't she riding?
I don't know why she wasn't riding but she was commentating on the race for French Eurosport.

Commonwealth points race infinitely more exiting. Nothing to do with the quality of field.

Kathryn Bertine (St K and N) talks about what it means to her. Pretty unusual to see something like this:

Very predictable, the problem with womens racing at present is one rider is winning most of the time therefore making it all very boring to watch. Imagine watching the mens race and the same rider winning everytime.

because Marcel Kittel taking the last stage was so unpredictable  it was a sprint finish & just like the men who rolled in later, there are less than a handful of riders youd back to win those types of finishes all things being equal, and Vos just happens to be one of those handful of riders, shes also pretty good.

so whilst no doubt the press whove suddenly discovered women race bikes again will be full of the Vos wins everything meme, pick a more challenging course and the results could have been different.

Women's cycling needs 'national-ish) teams with a national sponsor (hello Sky) so that the public/press have a reason to get behind their team. People care about women's cycling during the olympics so why not start with that model and take it from there.

dont we have that kind of team with Wiggle Honda already, UK company, supported by well known Brit with sideburns, and features strong core of Brit track riders with recognisable Olympic star faces in the UK...and yeah they havent exactly broken the mould yet, you dont see masses of people out there in Wiggle kit, like you see Sky (even among women Id say theres more Sky kit worn)

so Im just not sure what a Team Sky womens team would give you, its just one more team with a roster of maybe 12 riders, when you want to encourage lots of sponsors to get on board so the likes of Specialized Lululemon dont have to resort to a crowd funding almost kickstarter style projects to raise enough money just to keep competing, and so all the teams get decent funding and wide range of sponsors and the exposure on tv etc etc.

and who would those 12 riders be, as Sky would clearly want to start with a strong team, so would pick up some of the best riders from existing teams, maybe threatening those teams existence, so would they be interested in development new British talent, which is kind of thing they are accused of not doing thesedays with the mens team.

so I dont disagree the current model is broken, I just think its more broken than a Team Sky alone can fix.

The men's race was fun last night - New Zealand and the Isle of Man competing to see who could push the commissaires the furthest.

She's very pretty and that is a nice dress if you like that sort of thing but why wasn't she riding? She is a professional cyclist. Sadly she seems to be more famous for looking pretty and who she sleeps with.
Probably more future in this than the cycling.

didn't even know this was on ITV4 shame it wasn't incluced as part of their Your Coverage then I would have recorded it. Will try and catch a repeat if I can.

Should be included in the tour programme though as that is when they get higher viewers. It's a start but still a long way to go for women's cycling.

They mentioned over the last few nights that they were going to be showing it, just after they said the timings for live and highlights coverage for the next day.

Also, they're showing the Vuelta, so make sure you set the Sky+ (23/8)

must have missed it. Annoying thing is I have Tivo that is meant to work out what I like to watch but I think cycling is still a niche sport so it never works out other cycling events to record.

Not sure whether to go Eurosport or ITV 4. Quite enjoyed Phil and Paul but what annoys me is we know at times one goes off and does stuff just for Versus so when they come back to the international feed they end up repeating what the other one has just said !

Not only is the race jury all women but even the gendarmes posted around the route are all female!

This is a detail I have most issues with. Please be aware that this wasn't the cyclists' or UCI's call, but the French/Paris government's. Nothing to do with equality as far as I'm concerned.

I'm pretty sure Eurosport NL covered it as well.

Like Merckx or Anquetil? Yeah, I heard the races used to be very boring back in those days...

That's not a bad idea. They could possibly have a mini series with races on the two rest days and then the final day.

will watch the highlights of this when I get home tonight. It's a shame ASO didn't insert some highlights into the last stage broadcast, would have given the sport far more exposure than having this as a separate programme

The Frenchmen in the hotel in Spain I was in were all confused that the Tour was finishing so early. They were pulling faces, looking at their watches and scratching their heads. I tried using my best (very poor) French and said "femmes", but they were still none the wiser.
