Hi All,
The above title says it all really, been cycling now for over 10years, but on a Hybrid and a MTB. Looking at taking the plunge into road riding and was looking for a full out road bike instead of my hybrid.
I have found 2 I am looking at and was wondering if anyone has any expeirence in thse 2 bikes or can recommend something you have riden? Would prefer disk breaks as I find them more reliable in all weather confitions but the cube here is highly rated. Any ways any advise is greatful.
Specialized Roubaix

Thanks

The Cube has the better groupset, but to be honest with you, there are better bikes out there for the kind of money (£1,500) Specialized are asking for the Roubaix with 9 speed Sora. The Wilier Trestina GTR with 105 for example can be gotten for the same price if you shop around. If you want Veloce it's down to around £1,200 now. A full carbon frame with integral cabling and 10 speed. Not a head down racer, but neither is it an Audax/Sportive type geometry managing to sit somewhere between.

I have the cube, its a great bike and has great kit on it including the wheels for £999. Its also stunning looking!0

Thanks for you replies so far, be honest will I notice not having disk brakes? I will be riding the bike all year round, I am pilling towards the cube due to the Groupset and wheels, but need recommendations.0

If you are used to disc brakes on your MTB or Hybrid then road rim brakes will feel weak, especially when it's wet, cold or you are descending at speed. One of my MTBs has XTR-V Brakes and while they work fine most of the time you need more thinking time in the wet. Also I've never seen the point of expensive wheels when the rim is essentially a consumable.
I have a Specialized Secteur Disc and would trade up to a Roubaix SL4 (essentially a carbon fibre version with better wheels) if I could.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0 -
I wouldn't make disc brakes a deal-breaker if I were you. Millions of people around the world ride road bikes in all manner of road and weather conditions, including pros hurtling down mountain passes in the wet. And they all manage with rim brakes.0

Why not try the Roubaix Sport, not disc but 105 instead of Sora, Carbon and a great looking bike, well I have the Roubaix Disc
You should be able to get a deal on either Disc or Sport.
The frame is set for a more relaxed ride over a out and out Racer, so position on the bike will be more comfy over lower down race position. I would try before you buy if can. I like the Roubaix as of the Geometry of the frame, suits my ride position and means I can ride further without the aches and pains.0
