Fulcrum hub removal

Hi I am trying see if there is anything wrong with my fulcrum 5 rear hub. I undid the Allen key bolt on te left hand side and pushed the axel through with the freehub attached. I found it difficult to get it back in because of the 3 small bits of metal that spring up and down and slot in the grooves of the hub. I squeezed them together and it went in . Is that the correct way of doing to?
