Which Pedals?

Guys,
Looking to replace the pedals on my Fury.
The standard supplied ones are Wellgo metal platforms which don't seem to have very good grip.
Have read reviews of the following flats:
Superstar Components Nano's
Nukeproof Electron (composite)
DMR V8's (grease port)
Wellgo MG1
Could also do with some decent shoes - any recommendations (other than 5-10's) for a budget show with good grip?
The other possibility is going SPD's - but wouldn't know where to start with shoes really as I don't want to spend a fortune.
Thanks

Superstar, or one of the various versions that happens to be cheapest (Moove, Exotic, etc). Teva shoes can be found quite cheap now that they're not being made anymore.0

Wellgo are great but fall down on the lack of serviceability. Vote would be for Superstar. V8's are a bit dated compared to the others.Current - Cotic BFe - Pike RC - XT - Hope Arch EX

Superstars, big platform and grippy
Shimano AM41s
£55ish
Teva Links
They're discontinued so you can get them quite cheap
I got a paid for £35 and I've seen some around for £45ish if you can find your size0 -
The Wellgos are easily serviceable, with spares available. Also the lightest pedal hear, and great bearings.0

You can hear them (lightly)? Must be rubbish then ;-)0 -
Shimano saint are great, the V8's are sh*t. Shimano am41 are great for winter, as are Sombrio x-shazam for summer, though Sombrio are hard to find nowadays..Cube Analog 2012 with various upgrades.0

Picked up a pair of Teva Links yesterday.
Off for a ride tonight - will see how they go.
Laces are being changed to the black ones though at the blue is a bit 'in ya face'.
Still not decided on pedals.
Have a feeling it may well be the Nuke Proof as I can physically look at them in the local evans._______________

They look interesting, though I've never seen anyone recommend them here. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Nukeproof's pedals are made by HT who also make the Nanos. Internals are basically identical. Shape of the Nano is better imo, as the convex shape of the NPs is very marmite.0

When I was choosing some new pedals 18 months ago I had the exact same decision between the Electrons and Nanos. I went with the Nanos in the end and I'm very happy with them. They've taken a bit of a battering over the last 6 months with a number of rock strikes knocking out a couple of pins but they still spin smooth with no servicing done whatsoever. I find the platform shape and size perfect and the grip is incredible with my 510 Danny Macs.0

Great ride last night - some brilliant single track and some pretty steep descents.
Shoes made a massive difference to when I was riding in trainers - really impressed.
The stock pedals let me down a bit so as the Super Star Nanao's are out of stock I've ordered the Exotic equivalents from Carbon Cycles.
Thanks for all the help and advice!_______________

Glad you got on well with the Tevas, perfect stiffness for climbing and descending IMO
Shame they're discontinued
The Pedals will help too, bigger and grippier platform0 -

Whether they are better or not than the nanos... I have had both and would buy both again, have no real preference.0 -
on a footwear note, I bought a pair of Sombrio Shazam's - the low top version of these - (https://sombriostoreca.myshopify.com/products/shazam-mid-top) and they are amazingly grippy on a not particularly fancy pedal but are maybe not as solid feeling as my five tens - I only bought them as I needed a predominantly black shoe for work and got them half a size too big as that was all that was available - having commuted in using them a few times I wish they were the right size as they would be good for a bit of burly gnar in whistler.
I think the store had the high tops in white - might check them out.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
they look fairly solid. I was after a pair of Sombrio's to replace my Five Tens but when I felt the grip on these DC's and saw I could get a pair for £30 my mind was made up"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

For pedals its a no brainer MG1's
Not touched mine for over 2 years, still going strong and trust me with the low BB they've taken a bashing. Cost, weight and durability is spot on not to mention the fact they're bloody grippy with my Shimano AM45s.0 -
+1 for mg1's. got them in the grey and would definitely buy again.GT I_DRIVE 5 XCR IN BLUE.
