A warning there will be a lot of pictures (in chronological order) to accommodate some of the regular BB crowd but by the end the complete bike will be the first picture. My scales work to the nearest 10g so some of these weights could be 5g either side.
Frame/Forks - 2015 S Works Tarmac, Size 52.
Bars: 42cm 3T Ergonova bars alloy (220g)
Stem: 100mm 3T stealth Arx Team (100g)
Seat post: 350mm S works Pave (200g)
Bar Tape: Fizik Black performance with the felt touch cos I'm like that
Brake Pads Kool Stop Dura 2
Wheels Campagnolo Zondas
Tyres 25mm Schwalbe Ultremo zx
Saddle Fizik arione tri2 (stolen off previous bike) whilst I try and find a nicely priced romin to try
Groupset: 11spd Ultegra, compact for now as I'm off to the alps at the end of August. Will
probably be changed for the new Campag stuff
Accessories:
Trying to colour match? Do I go black and black cages or black and red?
Sram Garmin mount
Cadence/speed sensor tbc
Weight: 7kg, going to use some bike scales later to double check though
Other info:
Wasn't this as exciting as Arran's Thursday.
With one of the hounds as a dog portrait was requested
Uncut steerer and old short sea post
Cut and ready for work (whilst I had an ice coffee)

Looking forward to seeing this one as it evolves. Nice.FCN 3 / 40

No better feeling than having everything new in boxes and then enjoying the build, enjoy.
Nice steed by the way, looking forward to the complete photos.

Up until now the only other Specialized paint job I've liked has been the Lululemon colours, but this has surprised me, really classy colours!0

It's all good, except for the Ronald McDonald Edition paint scheme. Have fun and keep us posted.
Maybe we should all bet on the final weight : I'd say 7kgs sharp with pedals.Specialized Tarmac Sworks

That looks great.
I really like the paint jobs on the Spesh bikes again 8)
Interesting choice of wheels considering the rest of the group set, any reason for it?"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Get it built up and ride it as you only have a few weeks to tweak it before your trip overseas......the clock is ticking and less than a month to settle into the bike aint long enough imo but enjoy the trip you lucky bugger!0

cheers all, was picked simply for the colour. Had wanted a higher end bike but couldn't find anything particularly exciting and missed out on the sl4's in Hyper green or orange.
Arran, simply because I had them on my other bike and like them. Saved a few pennies where I could and due to all the hills/shit roads around here makes sense over anything deeper I guess.
Dreading getting used to the drop given that between all the spacers and max seat post height must be a 8/9".
On the fun side, snapped a bolt in the stem (steerer end) when tightening today so though it is just about complete that needs sorting.
if it makes 7kg sharp I'll be happy, not sure I'll make that without a groupset upgrade. I'll say 7.20 -
Like the red, keep the rest black.
Needs more photos, need to borrow that decent camera toomy isetta is a 300cc bike0 -
That paint is amazing - Russian Constructivism poster 8)tick - tick - tick0

How come you're using an old S-works post as opposed to the newer one that the frame came with?0
-
Nice, red cage on the seat tube, black on the down tubeI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0
-
Tell you what I hated that color in first place but I have to admit it came out very nice. Can't get my head around that saddle color and that oh so 2010 seat post tho...

Wait, is it green or cream? First pictures it looks lime green, rest it looks cream.0

Looks fantastic but I agree that it now looks green :? very cool anyway.
Oh, I think you need to get the felt on the roof of the summer house looked at"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Green, used a proper camera at the end rather than the iPhone. Should be a black saddle sooner rather than later but hey I like the difference that saddle gave my old bike. Only good thing with the seat post is it weighed less than the current model by 25g
Devastazione, yep you got the prize there, I just thought my budget would bring it over that mark. Lucked out.
Thanks Arran, I never noticed how shit I patch up I did when I did it myself after the spring storms... (more I'm shit at that stuff and don't care enough as the garden is only used for the odd BBQ with friends rather than garden parties)0 -
Nice job
Front cables look very neat, think the rear brake cable casing looks a bit long as does the derailleur one, but it is better than being a bit short.
Like the natural garden look, great for wildlife, or a quiet Life.my isetta is a 300cc bike0 -
Oh I liked it in cream! :-(
Nice build regardless!0 -

both, easy to keep and loads of butterflys and bees (not so many birds due to dogs)
Bit of fear with the cables. well bit of fear all over.0 -
Nice job there...0

Great looking build
I agree - black and red cages to match the colours of the tubes0 -
On the one hand, I think that it is great that you haven't added to the plethora of black on black bikes. But on the other, I think that paint job is vile!
But my opinion doesn't matter, because it is your bikeRed bikes are the fastest.0 -
I like the colour, complementary colours, in paint, which uses subtractive colors, uses the traditional primary–secondary complementary color pairs of red and green to great effect, the French chemist Eugene Chevreul, demonstrated scientifically that the arrangement of complementary colors is superior to any other harmony of contrasts in his 1839 book on the subject, De la loi du contraste simultaneé des couleurs et de l'assortiment des objets colorés. But I am an artist.
But I have also been drinkingmy isetta is a 300cc bike0 -
Nice bike, I have the exact same* but in OPQS colours - the colour you have is not available in Europe, but I was tempted by it.
What size are you for a 52? I'm 5'8, 62kg, and it fits me a treat, but with no spacers and a 130mm stem.
Think a plain black non-Spesh seatpost (they are heavy) would look better.
And yes the rear brake outer is too long, you can cut it a lot shorter than that. Did you put the doughnuts on the cable inside the top tube? If not it'll rattle!
*it's on here somewhere0 -
Thanks. Uh it may rattle then, I didn't get any doughnuts to put inside.
52 in the end i'm 5.9 and a bit 70kg. Think the stem may need to be increased but it is comfortable right now so definitely some spacers to come out. Going to put a few thousand meters of climbing in over the weekend to get a proper feel. Can't get OPQS here! and i missed out on orange and the hyper green last year.
I'm with what ever 47b said!0 -
I’m recently looking to buy one frameset, but not sure which size to choose. My height is 5”9-5”9 1/2, with very short inseam 78.5cm, 30”. But I had a Allez before with 56cm, and my current bike are all 54cm, do you choose 52cm because you also have shorter inseam?0
-
I’m 5ft10 and used to ride a 52cm S Works Tarmac. For me it fitted but lots of seat post and drop. 54cm May have been better.
Get your ass on a bike and/or get a bike fit. Only way to really tell. As no one persons fit is the same.
FWIW I got a bike fit 6yrs ago and have carried those numbers through numerous bikes since. Well worth the money, so long as I know the geo of a frame I can buy it online unseen and know with just a few tweaks the fit will be bob on.0
