Tools for Swapping a Tiagra Chainset for a 105 5750

Can anyone please advise what specialist tools I need to remove a Tiagra chainset and subsequently fit a 105 5750 chainset?

I imagined it was simply a matter of removing the non-drive crank arm and sliding it out, but I think I might need some kind of "puller", whatever that is.

I believe it's pressfit bottom bracket as there are no external cups, its on a Trek Madone 3.1 WSD, BB86.

think the arm will be self extracting, so you may need a 10mm allen key, and a 5 mm one to set the front derailer

It is a simple job, just undo the bolts on the non-driveside crank arm, there is a little clip which stops it coming off (because you don't want the crank flying off if your bolts fail for whatever reason), this needs to be pushed up with a screwdriver or something, then the driveside should slide right out.

You may need to give it a tap with a rubber mallet or similar to get it started.

the only "specialist" tool you need is the shimano crank tool to remove the tensioning bolt from the NDS crank. Then it's just a small screwdriver and allen key.

From past experience I would also suggest you invest in a resin/rubber or wooden mallet and a piece of dowel of small enough diameter to fit inside the hollow axle.

On my last 2 bike builds with a mix of 105 cranksets and Ultegra or 105 Hollowtech BB's the crankset installation has needed some significant persuasion with said mallet to get the axle to pass through the sealed bearing cups and bed home properly.

Equally when removing said cranks I have needed to insert the dowel into the hollow axle and apply a few hefty strikes with the mallet on the dowel to release the cranks from the BB bearings.

Would that be the small disc end of this tool?

I have learned that the little plastic preload cap is far easier to remove if you undo the 2 pinch bolts first. Cranksets have usually slid out of the bearings with no violence required. And installation of the new crankset is the reverse; tap it home with the flat of your hand, pop the NDS crank on, preload the bearings by installing the plastic centre cap finger tight only, then install the safety tab and pinch bolts, tightening alternately till snug.
