Hi all,

First post so please forgive. I'm looking for a fairly cheap second hand mountain bike or hybrid as I do light trails with the kids and looking to start going a little more off road.
I've seen a few bikes on ebay but they generally go for more than I have in the bank, or are miles away from where I live.
Anyway, I've seen a 2014 Carrera Titan on Halfords website for £200 - seems a good deal to me, but would like some advice.

http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/m ... -bike-2014

Frame: Lightweight 7005 Aluminium Frame
Fork: Suntour XCM-DS Suspension Fork - Coil - 120mm Travel
Brakes: Tektro Mechanical Disc Brakes – 160mm Rotors
Number Of Gears: 24 Speed
Chainset: Suntour XCT - 42/32/22T - Square Taper - 175mm
Rear Derailleur: SRAM X4
Gear Shifters: SRAM X4 Triggers
Tyres: CST tyres - 27.5" (650B) x 2.25"
Wheelset: Double Wall rims laced onto QR Hubs
Finishing Kit: Carrera Branded

Any opinion counts, but try to be nice.
By the way I'm riding a twenty something year old Raleigh Max at the moment - don't laugh, but I like it.

Thanks
walnut

£200 might seem like ok value but I think the 650B wheels come at the expense of everything else. Original RRP seems way off.

I'd look at Voodoo, Rockrider and Calibre bikes. Not sure on the models, but Cooldad and Supersonic should be able to keep you right.
    Current:
    NukeProof Mega FR 2012
    Cube NuRoad 2018
    Previous:
2015 Genesis CdF 10, 2014 Cube Hyde Race, 2012 NS Traffic, 2007 Specialized SX Trail, 2005 Specialized Demo 8
  • I've noticed it's an old add anyway - should've checked before I posted.

Any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated though.

Set budget at £350 or more
Calibre two.two from Go outdoors (if you can find one!), Carrera Vulcan of Voodoo Bantu from Halfords or the Rockrider 520 from Decathlon.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
