105 Cassette Spacer Ring

I've just swapped a Tiagra 10sp cassette for a 105 10sp cassette. The 105 cassette came with a 2-3mm spacer ring, however the Tiagra one did not have one fitted.

Is it safe to assume that the 105 cassette doesn't require this spacer fitting?

Ring should not be that big, but anyway … 105 needs it, Tiagra doesn't.

It should be a 1mm spacer (thickness that is). As already stated it's required for the 105 cassette but not a 10 speed Tiagra one which is 1mm wider.
