Fitting new disc brakes

Had a go at fitting new Clarks CMD-8 mechanical disc brakes, along with a new cable.
Followed the instructions, which seemed straight forward enough.
When I pull the brake lever and move the bike forward and backward, the wheel initially stops fully. If I continue, however, the wheel begins to move. I've tried tightening the cable, but it still happens.
Any ideas ?

Pull the brake lever harder?Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0

Adjust the caliper as per instruction given? You need to get the pads just rubbing the discs for cable disc brakes to work well, that is BOTH pads in each caliper.
That or you didn't remove the protective oil from the discs and now have contaminated pads and will need to buy new ones.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
